Nangiloc fruit juice a hit at farmers’ markets

ericERIC Wright says the best part about his farmers’ market stall is introducing people to the citrus of the season.

From primary school teacher to citrus grower, Eric Wright has been growing fruit for 12 years at Nangiloc in northwest Victoria.

His 4000 citrus trees grow on the banks of the Murray River close to the school where he teaches, laden with good-sized fruit ripe for the picking.

“This year we didn’t get as big a crop as last season but the fruit is larger, which makes it more marketable and better to pack. We had some frosts, which bring out the colour of the fruit and increase the sugar content.”
